As someone who has always loved learning new skills and building things from scratch, I soon became inspired by people around me who were learning to code. After 18 months in a venture support role, where I took the time to assimilate myself with the tech industry, I decided to join the General Assembly Software Engineering Immersive to switch careers and embark on a journey into web development.
I believe that true learning is being creative and I look forward to being able to continue my career of learning and growing my skills in web development.

As Event Coordinator, I was part of a team who implementing a successful program of more than 60 events per year, I reported to the Event Director and worked on high-profile author events across numerous publishing houses. The role consisted of writing compelling event copy for all marketing materials to be published in print and online, creating and sending out effective press releases whilst building relationships with national and regional media contacts. I was responsible for overseeing creative design of promotional material and ensuring all items are proofread.
My role was logistical support for 8 venture teams, acting as a one-contact person for venture staff across all cohorts including engineering, product, growth, strategic/experience design. I worked closely with the GM and Partner on ventures where I coordinated large stakeholder meetings, ensured all staff had the correct access to tech systems and liaised with key clients throughout the venture life-cycle.
I took the plunge and joined the General Assembly Software Engineering Immersive course which was a hugely rewarding challenge. With all of the new technical skills I’ve gained throughout the course, I’m excited to finally be able to realise the multitude of project ideas that have started to fill up my iPhone notes. On top of these skills, I learnt an enormous amount about myself and what I’m capable of achieving in such a short period of time. I’m excited to take these new skills into a web development role so that I can continue this new life-long career of coding and learning.
